Worcestershire County Cricket Club has confirmed the signing of Pakistan’s Test fast bowler Khurram Shahzad for the remainder of the English domestic season.

The 25-year-old pacer, known for his ability to swing the ball, is set to join the squad in early July and will be available for all formats until the end of the campaign.

This move marks Shahzad’s first stint in county cricket and follows strong recommendations from former Pakistan captain and Worcestershire favourite Azhar Ali.

Shahzad recently impressed in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), playing a key role in Quetta Gladiators’ journey to the final.

Club officials hope Shahzad’s arrival will bring depth to their bowling attack, especially as the team juggles commitments in the T20 Blast, County Championship, and the upcoming One-Day Cup.

His debut for Worcestershire is expected on July 4 when the Rapids face Yorkshire at Headingley in the Vitality Blast.

Expressing enthusiasm about the move, Shahzad said joining a club like Worcestershire was a dream opportunity. He sees this as a chance to improve his skills and gain experience in English conditions.

Worcestershire currently sits fourth in the T20 Blast North Group but finds itself at the bottom of the Division One County Championship table, with just 54 points from seven matches.

The One-Day Cup, another crucial competition, begins on August 5.
