Lahore Qalandars sealed their place in the playoffs of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 after defeating Peshawar Zalmi by 26 runs in a rain-affected encounter at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

The match was reduced to 13 overs per side due to persistent showers. After winning the toss, Peshawar Zalmi’s captain Babar Azam opted to field first, hoping to exploit the conditions. However, Lahore Qalandars made the most of the opportunity with a solid total of 149 for 8.

Veteran opener Fakhar Zaman led the charge with a brisk 60 off 36 balls, hitting 10 boundaries, including three sixes. His aggressive approach provided the Qalandars with a much-needed boost in the shortened contest.

In reply, Zalmi fell short of the target, managing only 123 runs for 8 wickets. Daniel Sams remained unbeaten on 26 and was the top-scorer, while contributions from Ahmed Daniyal (24), Abdul Samad (17), and Babar Azam (16) were not enough to keep their side in the tournament.

With this loss, Peshawar Zalmi bowed out of the PSL playoff race for the first time in the league’s history. Meanwhile, Lahore Qalandars climbed to third in the standings with 11 points from 10 matches, overtaking Islamabad United, who have 10 points from nine games.
