Renowned spin bowling all-rounder, Shadab Khan, emphasized the pivotal role of a team’s bowling unit in securing victory in the upcoming World Cup. Khan, who leads Pakistan’s spin attack, highlighted the importance of containing runs on India’s batting-friendly pitches as the key to success in the tournament.

Despite facing criticism for his own recent performance, where he secured just six wickets in five Asia Cup matches, Khan expressed optimism about Pakistan’s bowling making a comeback in the World Cup.

“In my opinion, the team with the strongest bowling attack will emerge victorious in the World Cup, considering the likelihood of high-scoring matches due to pitch conditions,” Khan stated during a press conference.

Pakistan faced a defeat against New Zealand in their first warm-up match, but Khan remains confident in Pakistan’s world-class bowling lineup, even in the absence of frontline pacer Naseem Shah due to a shoulder injury.

“While we will miss Naseem, we have a world-class bowling lineup, and with a strong bowling performance, we can achieve excellent results,” Khan affirmed.

As a leg-break bowler with 88 wickets from 64 one-day international matches, Khan expressed his determination to elevate his own performance during the seven-week World Cup.

Khan also extended support to struggling batsman Fakhar Zaman, highlighting his potential as an impact player for the team. Zaman, who had a challenging Asia Cup with just 65 runs in four innings, received backing from Khan and the team management.

Additionally, Khan shared his appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality received by the Pakistan team upon their arrival in Hyderabad, India, where they will be playing a high-stakes game against arch-rivals India in the World Cup.

“The hospitality and welcome we’ve received have been exceptional, and the delicious food has been a highlight. We hope for a similar experience in Ahmedabad when we face India,” Khan expressed.

With the World Cup set to kick off on Thursday, the spotlight remains on Pakistan’s bowlers, who will play a crucial role in determining the team’s success in the tournament.
