As the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) enters its 10th season, captains of all six franchises have urged the nation and cricket fans worldwide to unite in support of what they described as a proud chapter in Pakistan’s sporting journey.
Addressing a joint press conference in Islamabad on the eve of the tournament’s opening match, the team leaders spoke about the significance of the PSL, both in terms of cricket development and national identity.
Shaheen Shah Afridi referred to the league as a national asset, encouraging everyone to stand by it as it completes a decade.

He emphasised that since the PSL belongs to Pakistan, it deserves full support from fans and institutions alike.
Babar Azam echoed the sentiment, saying his team had prepared well and hoped to put in a strong performance.
He stressed that the league’s success depends not just on players but also on the passion of its followers.
Mohammad Rizwan discussed the deep emotional link between Pakistanis and cricket.
He noted that fans have high expectations and often express disappointment when their teams underperform, which he felt was a natural response.
Rizwan also reminded that while individual teams may win or lose, the ultimate winner is Pakistan.

He further added that domestic tournaments like the PSL come with their own unique pressure, particularly when playing in front of local supporters.
The 10th edition of the HBL PSL is set to begin tomorrow (Friday), with defending champions Islamabad United facing off against Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Over the past decade, the PSL has become a key part of Pakistan’s cricket calendar, offering local talent a platform to shine and bringing global attention to the country’s passion for the sport.
