Pakistan’s young opener Hasan Nawaz has set an unwanted record during the fifth T20I against New Zealand at Sky Stadium in Wellington.

The 22-year-old was dismissed without scoring for the third time in the series, making him the Pakistani opener with the most ducks in a single T20I series.

Nawaz, who made his international debut on March 16 in the first match of the series, has experienced a challenging start to his career.

He registered back-to-back ducks in his first two matches, becoming only the second Pakistani batter to do so.

However, he responded with a remarkable 44-ball century in the third T20I, helping Pakistan secure a convincing nine-wicket win.

Despite that impressive innings, his inconsistency remained a concern. In the fourth T20I at Mount Maunganui, he managed just one run before being dismissed.

The final match of the series saw him fall for another duck, this time in the second over to Jacob Duffy.

With this latest dismissal, Nawaz has now surpassed previous record holders Shahzaib Hasan, Mohammad Hafeez, and Mohammad Rizwan, each of whom recorded two ducks in a single T20I series.
