The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has clarified that development at Islamabad’s F-9 Park is not linked to the construction of a new cricket stadium, but rather to the renovation of the existing cricket ground.

Rumours circulating online had suggested a major stadium project, prompting concerns over the loss of green space. Addressing the issue, the authority said the work under way seeks to modernise the ground and improve facilities for players and the public, while keeping the park’s natural and recreational layout intact.

CDA highlighted that environmental concerns were misplaced, as the project does not involve cutting trees or reducing greenery. On the contrary, landscaping, turf management, and beautification are part of the plan to strengthen the park’s green outlook.

The authority also confirmed that family-oriented zones such as children’s play areas, open lawns, and walking tracks will remain unaffected. The park will stay open to visitors throughout the upgrade, and safety measures will be maintained.

According to CDA, the initiative reflects a balance between sports infrastructure and environmental preservation. The upgraded ground is expected to serve the growing interest in cricket while ensuring that the capital’s largest urban park continues to provide recreational space for families.
