The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa women’s lacrosse team, fresh off their victory at the Okinawa Open Lacrosse Championship in Japan, met with Governor Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor House in Peshawar on Monday.

Captain Gul Pari, along with teammates Momina Tariq, Laiba Rasheed, Sughra Sattar, and Muqaddas Tariq, attended the meeting.

The team shared details of their efforts to promote lacrosse in the province and expressed their hope for the sport to gain official recognition at the national level.

The players explained that they competed in the Okinawa Championship without official support, facing 12 teams from various countries.

Despite the challenges, they emerged victorious, defeating South Korea in the final to claim the title.

The team also sought the Governor’s support for their participation in the upcoming Asia Lacrosse Tournament in Saudi Arabia this October.

Governor Kundi congratulated the team on their success, praising their determination and talent.

He acknowledged their victory as a significant achievement for female athletes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and emphasized that it would inspire young women across the province to pursue sports more actively.
