The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is all set to resume its 10th edition on May 17 in Rawalpindi, but fans may have to settle for a competition missing several notable overseas stars. The opening match will feature Karachi Kings taking on Peshawar Zalmi.

Reports suggest that a number of New Zealand players, including Kyle Jamieson, Mark Chapman, Daryl Mitchell, and Finn Allen, are unlikely to take part in the remaining fixtures. The absence is reportedly due to issues surrounding No Objection Certificates (NOCs), with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) currently in talks with New Zealand Cricket (NZC) to resolve the matter.

Peshawar Zalmi may also be without batter Mitchell Owen, who is expected to continue with the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Initially available for the PSL until May 18, Owen was signed as a replacement for Glenn Maxwell but has now opted to stay with his IPL side until the playoffs, should they qualify.

The need for a compressed schedule arose after earlier delays caused by political tensions in the region impacted both the PSL and IPL timelines. Following a ceasefire, both leagues released revised dates.

The PCB confirmed the updated PSL schedule on Tuesday. Rawalpindi will host the initial phase, including a Sunday double-header with Quetta Gladiators facing Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi meeting Lahore Qalandars. The city’s final match will be played on May 19, featuring Islamabad United against Karachi Kings.

The tournament will then move to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium for the knockout stages. The Qualifier is scheduled for May 21, followed by Eliminator 1 on May 22 and Eliminator 2 on May 23. The final will be held on May 25 at the same venue.
