The announcement, made by NESPAK Managing Director Muhammad Zargham Eshaq Khan, marks a major milestone in Pakistan’s sports infrastructure development. A NESPAK team — including the project manager, lead architect, and structural engineer — has already conducted a preliminary assessment of the site. To ensure cricket-specific expertise, former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has been appointed as an expert consultant by the PCB, providing strategic input to align the venue with global benchmarks for premier cricket grounds.
While the PCB had previously expressed intentions to construct such a facility, concrete action had been lacking until now. The project will be directly overseen by PCB Chairman and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, highlighting the government’s commitment to elevating Pakistan’s sports infrastructure.
For cricket fans, the announcement promises not only a new home for the sport in Islamabad but also a venue capable of leaving a lasting legacy on the country’s cricketing landscape.
