With the start of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season just around the corner, fitness has become a key focus for several prominent Indian players.
As the season’s opening on March 22 approaches, Mayank Yadav, Sanju Samson, and Jasprit Bumrah continue to recover from injuries sustained during their international duties.
Reports reveal that Yadav, a promising pacer, made an immediate impact during his IPL debut with the Lucknow Super Giants, quickly earning a place in the Indian team.
However, a stress-related injury sidelined him after his impressive performances, including taking four wickets in a T20I series against Bangladesh.
Despite being retained by LSG for Rs 11 crore, the franchise, under the leadership of Zaheer Khan, is cautious about rushing Yadav’s return, working closely with the BCCI to ensure his complete recovery before he makes a return.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals’ Sanju Samson has also been working on his fitness after suffering an injury during a series against England.
A short ball from Jofra Archer caused a hand injury that required surgery. While Samson has impressed with his batting, his fitness behind the stumps remains under review.
The National Cricket Academy (NCA) is reportedly monitoring his progress, with clearance for wicketkeeping yet to be granted.
Jasprit Bumrah, who missed India’s Champions Trophy campaign due to a back injury, may also face delays in his IPL return.
The BCCI is taking a cautious approach, with an eye on upcoming tours, including the one to England.
