India’s consistency in ICC Men’s ODI tournaments over the past five editions has been nothing short of impressive.

Since the 2015 Cricket World Cup, the team has played 36 matches, winning 30 and losing just six.

Of those six defeats, four came in the finals or semi-finals, underscoring India’s ability to regularly reach the tournament’s final stages.

Their only group-stage losses were against Sri Lanka in the 2017 Champions Trophy and England in the 2019 World Cup.

As India faces Australia in the semi-final of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the challenge of chasing 264 runs on a spin-friendly wicket looms large.

Australia, who batted first, struggled against India’s strong bowling attack. Despite some solid individual performances, Steven Smith and Alex Carey were the standouts, each scoring half-centuries.

Smith made 73 runs off 96 balls, including four boundaries and one six, while Carey contributed 61 runs off 57 balls, with eight boundaries and one six.

With India’s unbeaten run so far in the tournament, the semi-final clash against Australia is shaping up to be a crucial match in their quest for another ICC title.

As of now, India stands at 43 for 2 after nine overs, with skipper Rohit Sharma out for 28 off 29 balls and Virat Kohli on 9 not out.
