FIFA is expected to lift the ban on the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) after the country’s governing body approved proposed constitutional amendments.
In a statement, the PFF confirmed that its newly elected Congress had endorsed FIFA’s recommended changes during an Extraordinary Congress meeting.
The session, led by PFF President Saud Azim Hashimi, focused on aligning the federation’s constitution with FIFA’s regulations.
Congress members emphasized that approving the amendments was crucial for Pakistan football, as it could pave the way for lifting the ban imposed by FIFA earlier this month.
The global football body had previously stated that the suspension would only be reversed once the PFF adopted the revised constitution, developed in collaboration with FIFA and the AFC.
If the ban is removed, Pakistan’s national team may be allowed to compete in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers, scheduled to begin next month.
The meeting was attended by top FIFA and AFC officials, including AFC Deputy General Secretary Vahid Kardany, FIFA’s Head of MA Governance Rolf Tanner, and AFC’s Head of South Asia Unit Purushottam Kattel.
Kardany praised Congress members for their commitment to reforms and acknowledged the Normalization Committee’s role in overseeing the transition.
