Indian digital sports platform Fancode has discontinued its live coverage of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) following a deadly incident in Pahalgam, located in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, according to Indian media reports on Thursday.
The platform had been streaming the 10th season of the PSL in India as its exclusive digital partner and had aired 13 matches before abruptly pulling all live broadcasts and related content, including highlights and match clips, from its website and applications.
Reports in Hindustan Times suggested that the decision came after the Pahalgam attack, where Indian officials claimed 26 tourists were killed. The incident has heightened tensions between the two neighbouring countries, with India attributing responsibility to Pakistan-based elements.
In the wake of the attack, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reiterated its long-standing position of not engaging in bilateral cricket with Pakistan, citing political and security concerns.

The fallout from the incident has gone beyond sport. India announced the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty—a historic agreement on water sharing between the two countries. It also instructed all Pakistani nationals in India to leave within 48 hours and recalled its military attaché from Islamabad. Moreover, India is reducing its diplomatic staff in Pakistan and has temporarily shut down the Wagah border crossing.
Pakistan responded through its National Security Committee, which is led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The committee condemned India’s actions and rejected the suspension of the water treaty as a hostile act. Officials in Islamabad warned that any further provocation, particularly attempts to interfere with Pakistan’s water supply, would be seen as an act of war and would be answered firmly.
The episode reflects how political and security developments are once again spilling into the realm of sport, disrupting cricket ties between the two nations.
