David Warner is ready to make his Pakistan Super League (PSL) debut, joining Karachi Kings for the 2025 season following his absence from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction.
Warner was acquired by the Kings for a record-breaking Rs 2.58 crore, making him the most expensive signing in PSL history.
The Australian batter has also been appointed as the team’s captain and is set to lead them in their opening match against Multan Sultans on Saturday.
Ahead of the game, Warner addressed a media briefing in Karachi where he was asked about recent online trolling.

A reporter claimed that some Indian fans had criticized Warner for joining the PSL after failing to secure a spot in the IPL.
Warner quickly dismissed the suggestion, stating it was the first time he had heard such claims.
The seasoned batter explained that his decision to play in the PSL was based solely on his love for the game and the opportunity to participate in a tournament he had never before been a part of.

He further mentioned that prior international commitments had prevented him from joining the PSL in the past, but with his international retirement, the timing was now ideal.
Warner, who was drafted by Karachi Kings as their top pick in the Platinum category during the PSL 2025 draft, brings a wealth of experience to the team.
With over 12,900 T20 runs in 399 matches, he maintains an impressive average of 37.00 and a strike rate of 140.23.
Warner’s leadership and T20 expertise will be key as Karachi aims to claim their first PSL title under his guidance.
