The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) request to replace the upcoming One Day Internationals (ODIs) with additional T20 matches during their tour of the West Indies is likely to be turned down by Cricket West Indies (CWI), according to media reports.
Pakistan had proposed increasing the number of T20 Internationals (T20Is) in place of the three-match ODI series to provide its players with more preparation in the shorter format ahead of key tournaments, including the 2025 ACC Asia Cup and the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup.
Despite continued discussions, CWI appears reluctant to alter the original tour schedule. As it stands, Pakistan will play three T20Is beginning on July 31 (August 1 PST), followed by three ODIs on August 8, 10, and 12.

If accepted, the PCB’s proposal could have extended the T20I series to five or even six matches, omitting the ODIs altogether. However, CWI is expected to confirm the original fixture list soon, signalling no changes.
The series is crucial for both teams, who are rebuilding their white-ball squads ahead of global tournaments. It offers a platform to test new talent and strategies.
Pakistan’s squad for the West Indies tour will likely be announced alongside the team for the Bangladesh series to streamline preparation.
