BCB Dismisses Rumors About India’s Tour

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has swiftly countered recent media speculation suggesting that India might cancel its upcoming tour to Bangladesh in August. Indian media reports had raised concerns over the potential cancellation due to political tensions and security issues in the region.

Despite the mounting rumors, officials from the BCB have firmly stated that the series is on track. The speculation began after developments in Bangladesh’s political landscape and ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. A source cited by The Times of India had indicated that while the tour was still part of the schedule, the possibility of India pulling out was high due to the current situation.

However, BCB’s Cricket Operations Chairman, Nazmul Abedeen Fahim, reassured the public, saying that the relationship between the BCCI and BCB is strong and that he remains confident the series will go ahead as planned. He emphasized that both boards share a “very friendly relationship.”

India is set to tour Bangladesh for a six-match series, which includes three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). The series is scheduled to start in August, with the first two ODIs on August 17 and 20 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, followed by the third ODI in Chattogram on August 23. The T20I matches will begin on August 26 in Chattogram, with the final two matches in Dhaka on August 29 and 31.

In the meantime, Bangladesh’s cricket team will kick off their international season with a two-match T20I series against the UAE in Sharjah, followed by a series in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The team is set to arrive in Pakistan on May 21 to begin training in Faisalabad for their upcoming series.
