Bazid Khan has raised concerns about Pakistan’s declining cricketing standards, stating that the team is no longer on par with top cricketing nations like India and Australia.
His remarks came after Pakistan suffered a 4-1 series defeat against New Zealand in the T20 format.
Speaking on national television, Bazid dismissed the notion that Pakistan is still a powerhouse in world cricket, arguing that past achievements no longer reflect the team’s current standing.

He highlighted that while Pakistan has won three ICC trophies in its history, both India and Australia have secured two global titles since Pakistan last triumphed in the 2017 Champions Trophy.
He questioned why Pakistan continues to consider itself among the best when its performances have not been consistent at the highest level.
Bazid stressed that the team is clinging to past glories instead of recognizing the growing gap between itself and the leading cricketing nations.
He pointed out that Pakistan’s ranking as a top-tier team is no longer justified by recent results.
Discussing the recent struggles of star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, Bazid underlined the lack of emerging fast-bowling talent in Pakistan.
Afridi took only two wickets in the five-match series at an average of 66.50. Bazid suggested that Pakistan’s inability to nurture new bowlers has left the team with no solid backup options.

He further observed that while other teams have continued to develop and strengthen their squads, Pakistan’s cricketing system has stagnated.
He added that the team, once superior to New Zealand, is now struggling to compete at their level, let alone matching Australia and India.
Bazid’s concerns echo growing apprehensions about the future of Pakistan cricket, with experts emphasizing the need for structural improvements to restore the team’s competitiveness on the global stage.
