Pakistan’s Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem has revealed that the land plots promised to him following his historic gold medal win at the Paris 2024 Olympics were never delivered, describing the announcements as “fake.”
Nadeem made national history by winning Pakistan’s first-ever Olympic gold in athletics with a record-breaking 92.97-meter javelin throw.
In the aftermath of his victory, federal and provincial authorities, along with private entities, publicly praised him and announced a series of rewards, including cash prizes and land plots.
While he confirmed that he did receive the promised cash awards, Nadeem stated in a recent interview that none of the land plot pledges were honoured.

“All the plots that were announced turned out to be fake. I haven’t received a single one,” he said, expressing disappointment at the unfulfilled promises.
The athlete’s statement has raised fresh concerns over the reliability of public reward announcements in Pakistan’s sports sector, where recognition and support for athletes often arrive only after major international success.
When asked about guiding younger talent, Nadeem said his current priority remains his own training. However, his coach, Salman Butt, is mentoring several upcoming athletes who have reached out for support.
