Pakistani politicians trade barbs

Pakistan has witnessed a constant political feud between the most prominent leaders, PTI Chairman Imran Khan and PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz. The current controversy arose over the presence of two top court judges in a larger bench hearing a poll date suo motu notice taken by the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

Maryam Nawaz, representing the PML-N, has been raising concerns over the judges’ bias towards her party, which Imran Khan has dismissed as a “shameless attack” on the SC judges. In response, Maryam challenged Khan to “watch the spoilt brat checkmate” him, accusing him of corruption and avoiding the courts.

This verbal war between the two leaders is not new, and it has been making rounds since the PTI was elected in 2018. The constant mudslinging and blame game have only added fuel to the already-existing political tension in the country.

The ongoing feud between the two leaders has caused political instability and undermined the credibility of the judicial system. The constant accusations and counter-accusations have only led to a further deterioration of the country’s democratic institutions.

It is high time for leaders to rise above their personal interests and work toward the betterment of the country. Instead of engaging in constant bickering, they must focus on resolving the pressing issues faced by the country, including the COVID-19 pandemic, economic instability, and political polarization.

The people of Pakistan deserve a stable and democratic government that can address their concerns and work toward their welfare. It is time for political leaders to put aside their differences and work towards building a better future for the country.
