A mother of three was allegedly tortured to death by her husband in Rawalpindi on Friday in what police say was a case linked to domestic disputes.

According to media reports, police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the husband, Amir Abbas, and the couple’s three children on charges of murder and concealing evidence.

The victim, identified as Samina, had been married to Abbas for 19 years and lived with him in Malik Colony, Girja Road, Rawalpindi. The couple had three children: Mohammad Zaman, 17, Shan Haider, 15, and Maryam Rani, 12.

Ghulam Akhtar, the victim’s father and a resident of Kot Adu in Muzaffargarh, lodged the FIR at Dhamial police station. In his statement, he alleged that his daughter had been killed by her husband and children.

Akhtar said he first learned of his daughter’s death through a public funeral announcement in his hometown. “On Wednesday morning, an announcement was made in Kot Adu that my daughter’s funeral would be held at 8 am, but no one from our family had been informed,” he told police.

Akhtar, accompanied by his brothers and sister, went to Abbas’s home, where family members said they noticed torture marks on Samina’s body. He further alleged that after contacting the police, Abbas and his children threatened him with “dire consequences.”

Police in Kot Adu informed Akhtar that the case fell under the jurisdiction of Rawalpindi’s Dhamial police, who subsequently transported Samina’s body to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Rawalpindi for postmortem examination.

Authorities have confirmed that an investigation is underway, and the suspects have been booked on charges of murder and evidence concealment.
