Two men have been arrested in connection with the firing outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan‘s residence in Mumbai, India. The incident took place early Sunday morning when two unidentified men on a motorbike shot five bullets into the air outside Khan’s Bandra residence before fleeing the area. A bullet also hit the first floor of Khan’s residence, according to police, who added that the shooting was carried out using a foreign weapon.
The two accused were on the run after firing five rounds outside actor Salman Khan’s house and were arrested from Gujarat’s Kutch, according to reports. The police have confirmed that the duo was linked to gangster Lawrance Bishnoi’s group.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of the actor, who has been facing threats from the Bishnoi gang. Last year, India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) stated that Khan was among the top 10 targets that imprisoned gangster Lawrence Bishnoi intended to assassinate, citing the actor’s infamous 1998 black buck hunting incident, which the gangster claimed angered the Bishnoi community.
Bishnoi said that his henchman, Sampat Nehra, had surveilled Khan’s Bandra apartment, laying the groundwork for a possible hit. However, Haryana Police’s Special Task Force arrested Nehra, said the report. Following another threat call on April 11, last year, Mumbai Police elevated Khan’s security status to Y+.
The All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) appealed for increased security and immediate action against miscreants who fired shots at Salman Khan’s residence. They wrote an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Salman Khan’s father, Salim Khan, has said that his son will continue his work as usual. He made the remarks after meeting Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde earlier in the day, who assured his family complete protection.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the police are attempting to locate the persons who fired the shots. The Mumbai Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
