Popular Pakistani stars Hania Aamir and Farhan Saeed, best known for their on-screen chemistry in Mere Humsafar, are under fire for their recent comments about the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 Indian tourists in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
In emotional Instagram posts, both actors expressed solidarity with the victims. Farhan Saeed stated, “Heartfelt condolences for Pahalgam Attack victims and their families.” Meanwhile, Hania Aamir shared a more poetic take, saying, “Tragedy anywhere is a tragedy for all of us… No matter where we come from, grief speaks the same language. May we choose humanity, always.”
Their words, intended to console and unite, were met with mixed reactions across social media in Pakistan.
Several other celebrities, including Fawad Khan, Mawra Hocane, Nadia Afgan, Danish Taimoor, and Anmol Baloch, also expressed sorrow, while actress Madiha Rizvi pointed to the attack as a result of India’s internal security failure.
Despite the seemingly apolitical tone of their messages, both Hania and Farhan are facing strong criticism. Many social media users are accusing them of “appeasing India” and “ignoring Pakistan’s internal issues and tragedies.”
Critics flooded social platforms with comments such as:
-
“When Muslims were being martyred, they were silent. But now they mourn for Indians?”
-
“India blames us for everything, yet our celebs still try to please them.”
-
“Why didn’t you speak up when Balochistan suffered?”
Supporters argue that compassion should transcend borders, but the prevailing sentiment remains one of nationalistic disappointment and suspicion over the actors’ motives—especially given rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
As cross-border relations deteriorate, Pakistani celebrities continue to tread a fine line between global recognition and national allegiance—often finding themselves targeted regardless of their stance.
