As diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan deepen, an online spat between singer Adnan Sami and former Pakistani minister Fawad Chaudhry has grabbed public attention.
The Indian government recently ordered all Pakistani nationals to leave the country by April 27, with an extended deadline of April 29 for those on medical visas. The move follows a terror attack in Pahalgam, which led New Delhi to suspend visa services for Pakistanis.
Amid this backdrop, Fawad Chaudhry shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) questioning whether Adnan Sami would also be asked to leave. Chaudhry’s comment ignored the fact that Sami became a naturalised Indian citizen in 2016, a decision the singer has publicly described as his destiny.
Sami responded sharply, referring to Chaudhry as an “illiterate idiot” for not knowing about his citizenship status. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party later joined the exchange, mocking Sami’s appearance by suggesting he had lost energy like a deflating balloon.

The singer, however, did not hold back. He corrected Chaudhry for wrongly claiming his roots were in Lahore, clarifying that his family was actually from Peshawar. Sami went on to criticise Chaudhry’s past role as Information Minister, questioning how someone with such a position could get basic facts wrong.
Further mocking Chaudhry’s credentials, Sami took a jibe at his former role as Minister of Science, suggesting it involved promoting misinformation rather than science.
Meanwhile, India’s Ministry of External Affairs has urged all Indian nationals to avoid travelling to Pakistan and advised those already there to return home promptly. The visa crackdown marks another low point in the strained relations between the two neighbours, with personal attacks now spilling over into public platforms.
