The Islamic Ideology Council (IIC) has declared withholding tax on bank withdrawals un-Islamic, labeling it an oppressive burden on the public.
Chairman Allama Dr. Raghib Naeemi emphasized that the levy contradicts Shariah principles and called on the government to reconsider its imposition immediately.
The council also opposed proposed amendments to the Diyat law, stressing that Shariah-mandated amounts of gold, silver, and camels must remain intact in the legislation.
IIC criticized the removal of silver and the adoption of un-Islamic gold quantities, stating that such changes undermine the law’s religious validity and social justice.
