Renowned Pakistani television actor Ayesha Khan was found dead in her Karachi apartment in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Thursday, sending shockwaves through the entertainment industry and beyond. She was 76 years old.
Born in 1948, Ayesha Khan was a celebrated figure in Pakistan’s television history, remembered for her powerful roles in Afshan, Aroosa, Family 93, Shaam Se Pehle, and Bandhan. Her portrayal of complex female characters made her a household name during the golden era of PTV dramas. She was also the elder sister of the late iconic actor Khalida Riasat.

According to the Gulshan-i-Iqbal police, Ayesha Khan had been living alone. Her body was discovered in the bathroom by a visitor who had come to check on her. Authorities suspect she may have passed away a few days prior, as decomposition had already begun.
Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed confirmed that a post-mortem examination has not yet been conducted, as officials are awaiting the arrival of Khan’s son, who does not reside in Karachi. Her body is currently held at the morgue.
Tributes Pour In
The news of her death prompted an outpouring of grief from Pakistan’s entertainment community.
Actor Adnan Siddiqui, who worked with Khan in his debut drama Uroosa, paid a heartfelt tribute on Instagram:
“She was my on-screen mother but brought a compassion reminiscent of a maternal figure… Her kindness, her elegance, her calm strength — all of it taught me so much.”
Veteran actor Khaled Anam also expressed his sorrow:
“With profound sadness, we share the news of legendary Pakistani actress Ayesha Khan passing away… She graced our screens with iconic roles in Afshan, Aroosa, Family 93, Mehndi, Naqab Zan, Bharosa Pyar Tera, and Bisaat-e-Dil.”
Actor Ahsan Khan and HUM TV also mourned the loss, describing Khan as a legendary figure whose grace and contributions to the industry would never be forgotten.
