At least seven people were killed after two bomb blasts hit Bannu district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday. Several others were also injured in the attack.
According to police, the first blast targeted a pickup truck carrying passengers. The vehicle was hit by a remote-controlled roadside bomb while passing through the area.
After the explosion, local people and rescue workers rushed to help the injured. Some victims were being taken to the hospital when a second bomb exploded nearby.
Police said the second blast happened as rescue efforts were underway. At least three people were injured in the second explosion.
The Bannu blast has shocked residents of the area. Security forces reached the scene and started collecting evidence.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack. He expressed grief over the loss of lives and said those behind the bombing would be punished.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. However, militant groups, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), have been active in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa near the Afghan border.
Pakistan has seen a rise in militant attacks in recent years, especially in border regions. The government has repeatedly raised security concerns with Afghanistan, while Afghan officials have denied the allegations.
The latest Pakistan bomb attack is another reminder of the security challenges facing the region. Authorities are continuing their investigation and searching for those responsible.
