Intense hailstorm swept through the Islamabad on Wednesday, causing widespread damage to vehicles, homes, and solar infrastructure across various sectors of the city.
According to eyewitnesses, the hailstorm began in the late afternoon and lasted for 30 minutes, with unusually large hailstones pummeling parked vehicles and rooftops. Social media was quickly flooded with visuals showing shattered windshields, dented car bodies, and broken solar panels mounted on residential and commercial buildings.
Multiple residents reported significant losses. “I had just installed new solar panels last month. The entire system is now shattered,” said one G-11 resident. Others shared similar concerns, stating that comprehensive insurance coverage for such natural damage remains uncommon in many parts of the city.

While no injuries have been reported so far, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) confirmed the hailstorm resulted from a strong western disturbance that passed through northern Punjab and upper regions of Pakistan. Officials said more unstable weather is expected in the coming days.
Authorities have urged citizens to stay alert, avoid parking under trees or open sky, and ensure the safety of exposed equipment. Damage assessment and clean up efforts are already underway in the affected sectors.
