Saudi Arabia has temporarily suspended the issuance of block work visa quotas for citizens of 14 countries, including Pakistan, in a move aimed at tightening immigration controls and managing the upcoming Hajj season. The restriction is set to remain in place until the end of June 2025.

A block visa is an official approval issued by the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, allowing employers to recruit a set number of foreign workers.

Besides Pakistan, the affected countries include India, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Nigeria, Jordan, Algeria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tunisia, Yemen, and Morocco.

Reports indicate that the decision has been taken to reduce overcrowding and to prevent unauthorized pilgrimages during the Hajj period. New block visa applications from these countries will not be processed, while those already submitted may face delays or possible rejection. Individuals who have secured visas but have not yet entered the Kingdom might encounter entry issues.

In addition to work visa restrictions, Saudi authorities have also paused the issuance of Umrah, family visit, business, and tourist visas for several countries.

This visa freeze is expected to last through the Hajj season, with authorities suggesting a review may follow Eidul Azha.

The Zil Hajj moon was sighted in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, May 27. According to official announcements, Hajj will take place on Thursday, June 5, while Eidul Azha will be observed the following day, Friday, June 6.
