In a shocking incident in Indore, India, twenty four transgender individuals reportedly drank poison to protest against police negligence and mistreatment. A viral video showed members of the community consuming a poisonous liquid, identified as phenyl, in what appeared to be an act of desperation.

Reports say the protest began after two men allegedly assaulted a transgender person, and police failed to take action against the suspects. Frustrated by the lack of response, the group took this extreme step to draw attention to their plight.
All twenty four individuals were taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed that their condition is now stable. Police have launched an investigation and are working to arrest the men accused of the assault.
