Senior TV host and journalist Dr. Moeed Pirzada, known for his critical stance against Pakistan’s establishment, has drawn attention following the purchase of a $1.055 million property in an affluent Maryland neighbourhood. Investigative journalist Fakhar Durrani revealed that Pirzada bought a 2 Kanal house in Potomac less than a year after leaving Pakistan over claimed security threats.

Pirzada and his wife, Najma Naheed, had relocated abroad around two years ago. Public records show the Maryland home, initially listed at $965,000 in mid-2023, includes four bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, a home office, several living spaces, and two garages. The property’s value has risen to approximately $1.1 million since purchase.

This acquisition raised eyebrows due to Pirzada’s earlier claims of going into hiding after the ousting of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, citing threats to his life. Critics questioned how he funded a high-end property so quickly.

In response, Pirzada stated the purchase was financed by selling the family home in the UK. According to UK Land Registry, Najma Naheed sold a property in April 2023 for £885,000, which was bought in 2006 for £420,000. However, Pakistani records indicate the asset was never declared for tax purposes, raising legal concerns.

Additionally, Pirzada secured a $500,000 mortgage from Movement Mortgage LLC at a 6.78% interest rate, implying a $505,000 down payment allegedly funded from the UK property sale. Pirzada also registered a media firm, MNP Multimedia LLC, in Maryland in early 2023, relocating its address to the new house by September. The company has yet to file financial reports.
