Punjabi Actor Jaswinder Bhalla Passes Away at 65

Veteran Punjabi actor and comedian Jaswinder Bhalla, one of the most beloved figures in Punjabi cinema, has died at the age of 65. He passed away early Friday morning at Fortis Hospital in Mohali.

His funeral will take place on Saturday in Balongi, where family, colleagues, and fans are expected to gather to pay their final respects.

Bhalla’s career spanned nearly three decades, earning him immense popularity for his sharp comic timing and memorable roles. He made his mark in films such as Dulha Bhatti and Jaspal Bhatti’s satire Mahaul Theek Hai (1999) before becoming a household name with hits like Jatt and Juliet, Sardaar Ji, and the Carry On Jatta series. His portrayal of Advocate Dhillon in Carry On Jatta remains one of his most iconic roles.

His final screen appearance was in the 2024 film Shinda Shinda No Papa, alongside Gippy Grewal and Hina Khan, proving his continued relevance in Punjabi cinema.

Outside of films, Bhalla cherished family life. He is survived by his wife Parmdeep, a fine arts teacher in Chandigarh, and his son Pukhraj Bhalla, who followed his father’s footsteps into acting. The father-son duo appeared together in the 2013 film Stupid 7, a moment fondly remembered by fans.

Jaswinder Bhalla’s passing marks the end of an era in Punjabi cinema, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, warmth, and unforgettable characters.
