Prince William, the Prince of Wales, has completed a historic three day official visit to Saudi Arabia. The visit took place from February 9 to February 11, 2026. The trip was made at the request of the British government and focused on strengthening ties between the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia.
The visit comes at an important time, as both countries prepare to mark 100 years of diplomatic relations in 2027. The trip aimed to boost trade, investment, and cooperation in different sectors.
During his stay, Prince William met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh. The two leaders held detailed discussions about future partnerships and shared interests. They also visited the UNESCO World Heritage site of At-Turaif in Diriyah, where they took a private tour and discussed cultural and historical connections between the two nations.
Youth development and sports were key highlights of the visit. The Prince toured Misk Sports City in Riyadh, where he met young female football players. He praised the growing role of women in Saudi sports and encouraged youth participation. He also attended an E-Sports tournament in the capital, showing interest in the country’s fast-growing gaming sector.
Environmental protection was another major focus. Prince William, who is known for his work on climate and conservation issues, visited the large Sports Boulevard project in Riyadh. This project aims to increase green spaces and improve city life. He later traveled to AlUla, a region known for its natural beauty and heritage.
In AlUla, the Prince visited the Sharaan Nature Reserve. There, he took part in a tree-planting ceremony and learned about efforts to protect endangered wildlife, including the Arabian leopard. He also toured the newly opened “Prince of Wales House,” a cultural space dedicated to arts and heritage.
Economic cooperation was an important part of the trip. The United Kingdom secured trade agreements worth £6.4 billion in 2025, and this visit aimed to build on that progress. Leaders from both sides discussed new opportunities for business and investment.
The visit also took place during ongoing international discussions about human rights. Royal sources said such matters are usually addressed through private diplomatic channels.
Prince William departed from AlUla International Airport on the afternoon of February 11, ending a visit that focused on partnership, culture, youth, environment, and economic growth. The trip as a significant step in strengthening long-term relations between the two countries.
