India’s decision to deploy additional troops at its disputed border with China has raised concerns and drawn criticism from China. The move involves reallocating 10,000 soldiers from the western border to strengthen the border with China in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. While India and China have agreed to maintain dialogue on border issues, China views this troop deployment as counterproductive to peace and stability in the region.
Mao Ning, a spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry, expressed China’s commitment to working with India to safeguard border areas but criticized India’s actions as escalating tensions. The increase in military deployments by India is seen as hindering efforts to calm the situation and maintain peace along the border.
The India-China border, spanning 3,800 kilometers and poorly demarcated in parts, has been a contentious issue. Previous clashes in 2020 resulted in casualties on both sides. Despite efforts to fortify positions and deploy troops, tensions persist between the two nations.
