Shipping companies are responding to the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea with a mix of resilience and concern as the conflict escalates. The recent casualties from Houthi strikes on merchant vessels have prompted various reactions within the industry. The United States imposed sanctions on two shipping companies and vessels supporting an Iran-based Houthi financier, emphasizing accountability for destabilizing activities.

Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, over half of exporters reported disruptions due to higher shipping costs and delays caused by the attacks, impacting various sectors like manufacturing and business-to-consumer services. The attacks have not only led to tragic losses but also significant challenges for global trade, with disruptions in shipping routes affecting trade volumes and increasing costs
