Pakistan and the UAE have officially sealed multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), unlocking the gateway for multi-billion dollar investments across diverse sectors outlined by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). The signing ceremony, a testament to strengthened bilateral ties, transpired in Abu Dhabi and was graced by the presence of Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, following a substantive bilateral meeting between the two leaders.

These MoUs span a spectrum of sectors, encompassing energy, port operations, wastewater treatment, food security, logistics, mining, aviation, and banking and financial services. The agreements are poised to catalyze collaboration and invigorate substantial investments in these pivotal areas, as articulated in a statement released by the Media Wing of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Information Ministry.

Prime Minister Kakar lauded the signing of these MoUs as a historic milestone, foreseeing an unprecedented elevation of economic cooperation between the two nations. He emphasized the potential for these agreements to usher in economic prosperity and socio-economic development in Pakistan. The Prime Minister underscored the success of the SIFC in fostering a business-friendly environment through streamlined processes, expressing optimism that the MoUs would swiftly materialize into tangible projects.

In a video message during his two-day visit to the UAE, Prime Minister Kakar hailed the signing of the MoUs as a landmark event propelling bilateral economic and strategic relations into a new era of cooperation. He extended congratulations to the people of Pakistan and the UAE, acknowledging the enduring foundation of friendship laid by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in the 1970s, now carried forward by his son Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Kakar engaged in a bilateral meeting with Sheikh Mohamed, where both leaders affirmed their commitment to fortifying bilateral strategic cooperation and dialogue. General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, was also present during the meeting. The Prime Minister expressed profound gratitude for the UAE’s steadfast support for Pakistan in economic and financial domains.

As part of the discussions, regional and global developments took center stage, with a particular focus on the escalating hostilities in occupied Palestine. Prime Minister Kakar expressed concern over the human cost of the dire situation in Gaza and reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the UAE’s Presidency of the COP-28, emphasizing the importance of global collaboration on climate change.

Following the engagements in the UAE, Prime Minister Kakar embarked on a two-day bilateral visit to Kuwait, where he is scheduled to meet Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal Al Jaber Al Sabah and Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Nawaf Al Ahmed Al Sabah. The visit is expected to involve the signing of various MoUs covering manpower, information technology, mineral exploration, food security, energy, and defense.
