Rumours have been circulating that football star Cristiano Ronaldo observed fasting during Ramadan, even though he is not Muslim. The reports began after comments from a former teammate about his time at Al-Nassr FC.
Ronaldo, who currently plays in Saudi Arabia and recently extended his contract with Al-Nassr until 2027, has been living in the region where Ramadan is widely observed. During the holy month, Muslims fast daily from dawn until sunset.
Former Al-Nassr player Shaye Sharahili shared that Ronaldo tried fasting for the first two days of Ramadan last year. According to him, Ronaldo wanted to understand how Muslim players feel during fasting. He said the experience was a personal choice and not a long-term commitment.
Sharahili explained that fasting is usually easier for Arab players because they observe Ramadan every year. However, foreign players may find it difficult at first, as they are not used to fasting or changes in daily routine during the holy month. It often takes time for new players to adjust.
Since joining Al-Nassr, Ronaldo has also been seen showing respect for local traditions. Some videos showed him praying on the field or quietly reciting words, which led to further speculation online. However, there has been no official statement about any religious change.
Supporters say his actions reflect respect for the culture of the country where he lives and plays. For now, the reports suggest that his short fasting experience was simply a way to understand his teammates better during Ramadan.
