During the visit, the Sixth Pakistan–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue will be held in Islamabad on August 21. Co-chaired by Yi and Dar, the talks are expected to cover political, economic, and security cooperation between the two countries.
Yi’s visit precedes Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s scheduled trip to Beijing later this month for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, where he is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Earlier, Yi joined Ishaq Dar and Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in Kabul for the Sixth Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue. The three sides reaffirmed their commitment to regional cooperation and agreed to extend the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) into Afghanistan to enhance trade, transit, and development opportunities.
The trilateral dialogue also emphasized closer cooperation against terrorism and drug trafficking, along with joint efforts in health, education, culture, and regional connectivity. A joint statement pledged commitment to “promoting peace, development, and prosperity in the region.”
