TEHRAN – At least 627 people have been killed and nearly 4,870 injured in Israeli airstrikes across Iran during the ongoing conflict, according to a statement issued by the Iranian Health Ministry on Wednesday.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Hossein Kermanpour, shared the updated death toll in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating that the largest number of casualties occurred in Tehran, followed by Kermanshah, Khuzestan, Lorestan, and Isfahan.

“I pass no judgment,” Kermanpour wrote. “I do not describe the painful scenes of injured children, mothers, and civilians arriving — I leave that to the conscience of humanity.”
He further disclosed that 86.1% of the victims died at the scene, while the remaining 13.9% succumbed to their injuries in hospitals across affected regions.
The figures highlight the devastating human toll of the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, which has drawn global concern over the intensifying regional instability. The ongoing hostilities were triggered by a series of attacks targeting Iranian nuclear and military sites, prompting Iran to retaliate with missile strikes.
Human rights organizations and humanitarian agencies have urged both sides to cease hostilities immediately, citing civilian safety and violations of international law. The United Nations has called for an emergency session to assess the situation and potential ceasefire negotiations.
