Apple’s latest iPhone 17 lineup is winning praise for performance and design, but durability concerns are emerging among early users.
Reports suggest that certain darker models, especially the Deep Blue iPhone 17 Pro and the Space Black iPhone Air, are showing scratches within days of purchase.
Many of the marks appear on the glass panel beneath the camera, while some users have also shared images of wear on the camera housing.
The discussion gained momentum after a viral post on X highlighted the issue, raising questions over whether Apple’s darker finishes are more prone to visible damage.
So far, lighter colours in the lineup appear to resist or conceal scratches more effectively.

Adding to user frustration, several owners claim that even standard MagSafe accessories leave visible marks during regular use.
Experts note that while the scratches do not affect performance, they may reduce the premium feel that customers expect from Apple devices.
Last week, Apple launched the iPhone 17 series, including the Pro, Pro Max, and Air models, with strong early demand but limited availability in several key markets.
The Pro editions, starting at $1,099, feature an aluminum shell and redesigned back, while the $999 iPhone Air introduces a slimmer design but faces concerns over performance.
The launch comes amid stiff competition from Samsung and declining sales in China, where Apple’s market share has dropped to 12% following a 6% sales decline.
