The Instagram Map allows users to share their location and discover stories, reels, posts, and notes with location tags. This makes it easier to see what friends and creators are sharing from concerts, cafes, or local hangouts. Users can choose to share their last active location with selected friends, close friends, or nobody.
Privacy is a key focus, with location sharing turned off by default and full control given to users. Indicators show whether location sharing is active, and reminders appear when adding location tags. Parents supervising teens also have options to manage and view their child’s sharing preferences.

Updates to Instagram Map include removing profile photos from map content, clarifying indicators when location is off, and previewing how tagged content will appear. This ensures a safer and more transparent experience for users in Pakistan.
