Apple has reinstated a redesigned Blood Oxygen feature for select Apple Watch models, including Series 8, Series 10, and Apple Watch Ultra, by integrating it with paired iPhones. The change enables the tech giant to bypass a U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) import ban.
Under the updated system, blood oxygen readings will be processed on the iPhone, with results displayed in the Health app’s Respiratory section. The data will no longer be viewable directly on the watch. The revision applies only to models sold after the ITC ban in early 2024, while older devices or those purchased outside the U.S. remain unaffected.

Users will need to update both their iPhone and Apple Watch software to access the feature, with the rollout expected on Thursday.
The move follows U.S. Customs’ recent approval of the redesigned system and comes amid an ongoing legal battle between Apple and medical technology firm Masimo. Masimo previously accused Apple of infringing its pulse oximetry patents, leading to the ITC ruling that banned imports of watches with the original feature.

Apple later removed it from affected devices and has since filed legal action against Masimo, alleging the company replicated Apple Watch features.
