Neil Brand, born on April 12, 1996, in Gauteng, South Africa, is a left-handed batsman and a left-arm orthodox bowler. His cricket career has been quite promising, with several notable achievements and milestones:

  • Brand initially moved to King’s College, Taunton, to qualify for the England cricket team but returned to South Africa at the end of 2017.
  • He made his first-class debut for Cardiff MCCU against Glamorgan on April 2, 2015.
  • Brand made his List A debut for Northerns in the 2017–18 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge on March 25, 2017.
  • In September 2018, he was named to Northerns’ squad for the 2018 Africa T20 Cup and made his Twenty20 debut for Northerns on September 14, 2018.
  • Brand was named in South Africa’s squad for the 2021–22 cricket season in South Africa in April 2021.
  • He captained South Africa in a Test match against New Zealand in December 2023, becoming the second player in Test history to captain his side in his first Test.

Throughout his career, Brand has demonstrated impressive all-round abilities, scoring runs quickly and playing fearless strokes as a left-handed batsman while also having good control and accuracy as a left-arm spinner. His versatility adds a crucial dimension to South Africa’s Test lineup.
