An 18-year-old cricket enthusiast faced legal action after breaching security to meet Virat Kohli during the IPL 2025 opener between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens.

Rituparno Pakhira, an aspiring cricketer, climbed the fence and ran toward Kohli while he was batting.

Security officials were caught off guard as he managed to reach the former India captain, touch his feet, and exchange a few words before being escorted away.

He was later arrested and detained at Maidan Thana.

Following a reprimand from the police, Pakhira was presented in court and granted bail the next day.

Upon returning to his village in Burdwan, he shared his excitement over meeting Kohli, calling it a dream come true.

While his mother was upset over his actions, she advised him to stay focused on his cricketing ambitions.

His father and sister, though supportive of his dreams, found it difficult to justify his decision.

Acknowledging his mistake, Pakhira vowed not to repeat such actions but remained hopeful that the encounter with Kohli would inspire his journey in cricket.
