Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has supported the BCCI’s decision to lift the saliva ban before IPL 2025, considering it a crucial change for bowlers.

He noted that in conditions where swing is limited, using saliva helps maintain the ball’s shine, aiding reverse swing.

He also pointed out that alternative methods, such as rubbing the ball on a shirt, are not as effective.

New Journey with Gujarat Titans

After departing from Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Siraj acknowledged that the transition was emotional, particularly due to Virat Kohli’s support.

However, he expressed excitement about playing under Shubman Gill at Gujarat Titans, describing him as a captain who allows bowlers the freedom to experiment.

With experienced teammates like Kagiso Rabada, Rashid Khan, and Ishant Sharma, Siraj expects strong competition and shared responsibilities.

He also recognized the challenge of filling Mohammed Shami’s place but remained confident in his ability to deliver key performances.

Focus on IPL Success

Having missed several international matches, Siraj stressed that team selection is beyond his control.

Instead, he has worked on improving his slower deliveries and yorkers. Under coach Ashish Nehra’s guidance, he aims to refine his skills and make a strong impact in IPL 2025 with Gujarat Titans.
