Mir, who played for Pakistan from 2005 to 2019, is now one of just 14 women and the eighth Pakistani overall to receive the prestigious recognition. She is still Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker in women’s ODIs with 151 wickets and was the first Asian woman to play 100 T20 internationals.

She captained the national side for eight years, leading them to two Asian Games gold medals and representing Pakistan in five T20 World Cups and two ODI World Cups. One of her standout performances came in the 2017 World Cup qualifiers, where she took 5/14 against Scotland.
