Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has made significant strides in the ICC ODI rankings, narrowing the gap with Pakistan’s top batter, Babar Azam.
After a stellar performance in the Champions Trophy 2025 final against New Zealand, where he was named Player of the Match, Sharma rose to third place in the latest rankings.
His crucial knock of 76 runs helped India chase down the target against the Black Caps.
Shubman Gill, who had an outstanding tournament, remains at the top of the rankings, while former captain Virat Kohli slipped to fifth despite scoring 218 runs in the competition.
In contrast, New Zealand players saw impressive gains following their runner-up finish.
Rachin Ravindra, named Player of the Tournament, jumped 14 spots in the ODI batting rankings.
His teammates, Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips, also climbed six places to sixth and 24th, respectively.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan retained their positions in the top 20, while Imam-ul-Haq dropped one place to 31st.
In the bowling rankings, New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner surged to second place, while Indian spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja made notable progress, securing third and tenth positions, respectively.
