PCB Announced Urdu Commentary
MT Default Temp (37)

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to make history in its 10th edition by offering full-match Urdu commentary for the first time, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Saturday.

The upcoming season will begin on April 11, 2025, with defending champions Islamabad United facing Lahore Qalandars at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The tournament will feature six teams and span 34 matches, concluding with the final on May 18 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, which will host 13 games, including the Eliminators and the final.

According to the PCB, this step aims to make the PSL more accessible and engaging for audiences across Pakistan by allowing fans to enjoy the matches in their national language.

The board stated that detailed broadcast plans, including the English and Urdu commentary panels, will be announced in the coming weeks.

Salman Naseer, Chief Executive Officer of the PSL, called the introduction of full Urdu commentary a significant development for the league.

He believed this move would strengthen the PSL’s connection with fans across the country and increase the tournament’s appeal.

Naseer pointed out that cricket continues to unite people across Pakistan and that bringing the PSL closer to home through Urdu commentary would enhance the emotional connection fans have with the league.

He added that this was a long-standing request from viewers, and the board was pleased to finally meet that demand.

The move is part of the PCB’s broader efforts to improve fan experience and reach a wider audience, especially in regions where English commentary may not resonate as strongly.

With the PSL’s popularity growing each year, the Urdu broadcast option is expected to further solidify its place in the hearts of local fans.
