Iftikhar Ahmed is set to make his first appearance in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) after being signed by the defending champions Guyana Amazon Warriors. The tournament begins on August 14, with Iftikhar replacing Hassan Khan for the first three matches.

The 34-year-old, known for his aggressive batting and handy off-spin, adds further depth to the Warriors’ squad. Iftikhar has been a regular feature in franchise cricket, having played in leagues such as the BPL, LPL, and PSL. His BPL record stands out, with 656 runs from 23 matches at a strike-rate of nearly 137. He also has a century and four half-centuries in the league.

In the PSL, Iftikhar has played 78 games, scoring over 1,100 runs and picking up 13 wickets with the ball. His performances at the international level include nearly 1,000 runs in 66 T20Is.

Fast bowler Naseem Shah is also expected to return to CPL action, having been signed by the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. He replaces South Africa’s Corbin Bosch. Naseem last played in the CPL in 2021 and helped the Patriots to a title win, including an impressive showing in the final.

However, his participation remains uncertain due to Pakistan’s busy international calendar, which includes an ODI series against the West Indies and the Asia Cup in September.

Several other Pakistani players are also set to feature. Mohammad Amir will play for Trinbago Knight Riders, marking his fourth CPL team. He brings experience with 51 wickets in 39 matches.

Young pacer Usman Tariq will make his CPL debut with the same side, having impressed in recent PSL seasons. Meanwhile, Mohammad Nawaz joins the Patriots for his first CPL outing.
