Pakistan and Bangladesh have revised their upcoming bilateral series, replacing One Day Internationals (ODIs) with Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) to gear up for the T20 World Cup in 2026.

The tournament is set to be hosted by India and Sri Lanka in February.

Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Director of Media and Communications, Sami Ul Hasan, shared on Sunday that both boards agreed to the changes, believing it would help the teams sharpen their T20 skills ahead of the global event.

Bangladesh was initially scheduled to tour Pakistan in May for three ODIs and three T20Is under the Future Tours Programme (FTP).

However, the series will now consist of five T20Is. Likewise, Pakistan’s planned tour of Bangladesh in July, which included three ODIs outside the FTP, has been revised to a three-match T20I series.

Before the World Cup, both sides will also compete in the Asia Cup, set to take place in India this September in the T20 format.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is currently engaged in a five-match T20I series against New Zealand. The hosts lead 3-1, with the final match remaining.

Afterward, a three-match ODI series between the two teams is scheduled from March 29 to April 5.

Following these fixtures, Pakistan’s players will turn their attention to the 10th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), running from April 11 to May 18.
