Cricket is set to make its long-awaited return to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028, with matches scheduled between July 12 and July 29. This will be the sport’s first appearance in the Olympics since it debuted at the 1900 Paris Games.
The tournament will begin two days before the official opening ceremony of the Olympics, which runs from July 14 to July 30. According to the released schedule, the cricket competition will be divided into two parts.
The first phase will take place from July 12 to 18, followed by initial medal matches on July 19. The second phase will continue from July 22 to 28, with the final medal match set for July 29.

All matches will be held at a temporary cricket venue in Pomona, located roughly 50 kilometers from central Los Angeles. Cricket joins several other sports that will start before the Games officially open.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) will finalize the qualification process during its annual conference in Singapore from July 17 to 20. Options under consideration include qualification based on ICC rankings or a separate tournament that could involve associate member nations.
Both men’s and women’s T20 competitions will be featured, each involving six teams and 15-player squads.
